Falconer, Randolph, Gowanda end regular season with wins

FALCONER — The Falconer volleyball team outlasted Southwestern in five sets 19-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 15-5 to secure second place in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West on Thursday.

Hannah Melquist’s 38 assists, 17 kills and 17 digs to lead the Golden Falcons (16-2, 14-2); Augustine Krenzer recorded 17 kills, 12 digs, four assists and two blocks; Ashley Smith contributed 11 kills and five blocks; Mylie Zaranek put up nine kills, four aces and 14 digs; Nylah Sharpe had 19 digs and five assists; and Brynn Zaranek added 14 digs and two assists.

Southwestern (10-6, 9-5) was led by Lauren Cotter with 23 kills, nine digs and five blocks; while Bella Sirianni added 29 assists and six digs.

CARDINALS SWEEP NC

NORTH COLLINS — Randolph wrapped up a perfect league season with a sweep of North Collins 25-14, 25-10, 25-9 in the East Division.

Randolph (16-2, 14-0) was led by Eve Adams with 17 kills, three aces and 10 digs; Donnilynn Sheldon added seven kills, three assists, four aces and two digs; Aliza Hind contributed eight aces, 22 assists, seven digs and a kill; and Avery Morrison had four aces, eight digs and an assist.

PANTHERS SWEEP WARRIORS

GOWANDA — Gowanda closed the regular season with a sweep of Salamanca 25-20, 25-18, 25-10 in East Division play.

Aubrie Heron led Gowanda (14-4, 12-2) with 11 kills, two blocks and five digs; Addison Kota recorded three aces, three assists, three kills, a block and eight digs; Holland Browning potted seven aces, four kills and 13 digs; Elizabeth Green put up seven kills and two digs; Ella Luther had three aces and 14 digs; and Jillian Gernatt added 22 assists and three digs.

Lezly McComber led the Warriors (2-14, 1-13) with nine kills, four blocks and two digs; Marlee Maybee put up eight assists, two aces and a dig; both Marijah Skye and Karina Crouse had two kills, two digs and an ace; and Acey Stevens added two blocks.
