Bestine, Wolverines coast past Pine Valley
WESTFIELD — Westfield keeps rolling.
Sparked by 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals from Tanleigh Bestine, Westfield downed Pine Valley in a nonleague girls basketball game Friday.
Mckenzie Schumaker added 12 points and six steals; Sophia Wolfe was credited with eight rebounds and four assists; and Syd Hotchkiss collected 10 boards for the Wolverines (6-1), who led 33-7 at halftime.
Danielle West paced the Panthers with 12 points.

CLYMER WINS AT FREE-THROW LINE
SHERMAN — Clymer made 14 of 18 free throws, including 9 of 13 in the second half, as the Pirates held off Sherman 32-27 in Division 2 West.
Kelsey Wagner hit a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats cut their deficit to two, but could get no closer.
Alexys Neckers led the Pirates (4-0, 2-0) with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds, seven steals and two assists. Ava Nyweide had 7 points and six rebounds, while Natalie White grabbed eight rebounds in the win.
Wagner led Sherman (5-2, 3-1) with 9 points, four steals and three assists. Tayden Persons grabbed 12 rebounds and three steals, while Teagan Gratto had seven rebounds.

PORTVILLE — Southwestern’s Reece Beaver scored 40 points, but the Trojans were topped by nonleague Portville 67-62.
The Panthers (5-0) led 23-16 after the first quarter, but Southwestern (1-4) took a 37-36 lead into halftime before an even third quarter.
Lillian Bentley led Portville with 23 points and 12 rebounds; Ava Haynes had 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists; and Jackie Scanlon had 14 points, including three 3-pointers.

Abery Harvey chipped in 12 points and five rebounds; Taytum Jimerson had 10 points; and Raven Troutman had 6 points and eight rebounds for the Bears (4-2), who led 21-7 after the first quarter and 39-19 at halftime.
