Sherman girls edge Westfield

SHERMAN — Kelsey Wagner drilled a 3-pointer and Lily Martin hit big free throws down the stretch to send Sherman to a 41-38 victory over Westfield in a Division 2 West girls basketball game Monday night.

The Wildcats (5-1, 3-0), which led for all but one possession in the fourth quarter, were paced by Martin with 12 points and four steals, Tayden Persons with 8 points and 11 rebounds, and Isa Kioko with four steals.

The Wolverines’ (4-1, 1-1) leader was Tanleigh Bestine with 25 points, including 18 in the second half, to go along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Sydney Hotchkiss chipped in with six rebounds, two steals and two assists.
