Gowanda girls lax finishes strong week in league

GOWANDA — After dropping its first game of the season the Gowanda girls lacrosse team is on a roll winning all three of its games this week.

The Panthers began the week with a 20-1 Conference 4 win over Depew on Tuesday, then Thursday defeated league opponent Springville 18-6 and on Friday night downed West Seneca East 15-2.

NCAA Division I Jacksonville University commit Chloe Luther paced the Panthers on Thursday scoring a whopping eight goals and adding four assists to pace the offense. Lily Scanlan also collected double-digit points with four goals and six assists, Karice John scored twice and both Felicia Scanlan and Cadence Luther had a goal and an assist.

Meghan Rosenswie provided a hat trick and an assist for Springville, but it was not enough to keep up with the red hot Gowanda offense.

Cadence Luther also grabbed six ground balls for the Panthers, Chloe Luther picked up five and had four interceptions, and both Alaina Kaczmarczyk and Layla Gamble earned three ground balls.

Nina Coulon made six saves in Thursday’s win.

Gowanda was even more dominant on Friday as it limited West Seneca East to just two goals.

Chloe Luther shined once again with five goals and an assist, but it was Lily Scanlan leading in points with four goals and three assists. Cadence Luther added a hat trick and Felicia Scanlan scored a goal and an assist.

Coulon made five saves in the game to help Gowanda move to 3-0 in the league and 3-1 overall.
