Southwestern rallies to edge Marauders 6-5

LAKEWOOD — Judd Harris retired 11 of the final 12 batters he faced in relief as Southwestern rallied past Dunkirk for a 6-5 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 baseball victory at Packard Field.

The Marauders (3-4, 1-2) led 5-1 after the top of the fourth inning, but the Trojans (6-0, 3-0) scored the final five runs of the game.

Southwestern made it 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth. A pair of runs scored on Gavin Anderson’s bunt when Dunkirk committed an error on the play. George Marshall and Peter Conley then hit RBI doubles to tie the game.

The Trojans took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning when Wilson Genareo scored on a wild pitch.

The one-run lead was enough for Harris, who struck out four over the final 3 2/3 innings. The only base runner he allowed over the final three innings reached on an error.

Marshall was the only Southwestern player with two hits. Jameson Walsh started and struck out nine in 3 1/3 innings. He allowed two hits and walked seven. Just two of the five runs he gave up were earned.

Josh Lemanski’s two singles were Dunkirk’s only hits. Greg Orcutt and Dylan Bankoski combined to strike out nine on the mound.
