Reyda, Smith lead Eagles past Panthers

MAYVILLE — Elliot Reyda and Clayton Smith combined on a seven-hitter and struck out nine to lead Chautauqua Lake to a 14-4 six-inning victory over Pine Valley in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 game.

Devin Hewes led the way for the Eagles (6-10, 6-6) with a single, four walks, three RBIs and two runs scored, while teammate Nate Henry collected a base hit and drove in two runs.

Sawyer Bradigan had two hits for the Panthers (0-12, 0-11).

BROCTON TURNS DOUBLE PLAY TO END IT

BROCTON — Damion Franklin walked and scored on Nate Laurito’s RBI double in the top of the seventh inning as Brocton beat Cassadaga Valley 5-4 in the completion of a Division 2 game halted in the second inning April 20.

The Cougars (6-6, 6-5) loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Brocton third baseman Eric Pryll threw out the potential tying run at the plate for the first out. Donovan St. George then made a catch in right field and doubled off a Cassadaga Valley runner at first base for the final out of the game.

The Bulldogs (5-6, 5-6) led 4-2 when the game was suspended two weeks ago. Anthony Gatto threw the final five innings Tuesday, allowing three hits, two runs and four walks while striking out four. Anthony Gatto was 2 for 3, while Aiden Gatto singled and drove in a run.

Bradley Windnagle went 3 for 3 with three runs scored for Cassadaga Valley. Jackson Crowell threw the final five innings, allowing four hits, one run and three walks while striking out two.

TROJANS RALLY PAST DEPEW

DEPEW — Trailing 5-0 after one inning, Southwestern scored six runs in the top of the third and beat Depew 8-5 in nonleague action.

Brody Ellis threw five innings of shutout relief, allowing just two hits while striking out two for the Trojans (12-2).

Jameson Walsh went 2 for 3 with a home run and three runs scored; Wilson Genareo was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored; and Peter Conley was also 2 for 4 for Southwestern. Chase Kartesz chipped in a two-run single in the go-ahead inning.

Justin Refermat went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Wildcats (11-3).

HUSKIES PULL AWAY LATE

FALCONER — Olean led 4-1 entering the seventh inning before exploding for 11 runs to beat Falconer 15-6 in Division 1 action.

The Huskies improved to 7-5 overall and 7-2 in the league.

Erik Stenstrom had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs for the Golden Falcons (3-12, 1-10).
