Josh Hilliker’s 78 paces Wednesday Travel League at South Hills CC
BUSTI — Josh Hilliker shot 78 to win this week”s Wednesday Travel League event at South Hills Country Club.
Ed Tofil finished second with 82 and Robert Calph was third with 84. Hilliker led both the front (41) and back (37) nines.
In the B Flight, Ron Szach won on a three-hole tiebreaker over Tim Walawender and John Waterman. Lenny Leszkowicz was the C Flight winner. Szach also shot the low round by a senior. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioners Award was Jaime Galarza.
Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Dave Wallace (No. 10), Hilliker (No. 11) and Jeff Nelson (No. 13); B Flight — Pete Pinkoski (No. 1), Dave Franklin (No. 8), Szach (No. 11), Pat Weaver (No. 15) and Waterman (No. 17); C Flight — Joe Bifaro (No. 5), Don Kujawa (No. 10), Leszkowicz (No. 13) and Bob Kujawa (Nos. 16 and 17).
Closest to the pin were: Tom Destro (No. 4), Tofil (No. 9), Szach (No. 13) and Hilliker (No. 15). Winners of the Steeplechase were: Hilliker (A Flight), Waterman (B) and Bifaro (C).

This week the league holds its second major of the season, the “Pennsylvania Open” at North Hills Golf Course in Corry, Pennsylvania. The first tee time is at 9:30 a.m. Golfers must be signed up by noon Monday.
