KD Landscaping Blue Jays opened the season with a 6-3 win over last year’s regular-season champions, the Stuart Tool & Die A’s.
Frankie Vargas was the winning pitcher while Xavier Negron held down the save. Defensively, the middle of the Blue Jays infield stole the show. Devaun Farnham, Derek Walters and Kobe DeJesus combined for three 5-4-1 double plays.
Leading the way offensively was Gavin Page, who collected three RBIs on the day. Javy DeJesus and Derek Walters (double) collected two hits apiece. Jason Tomkiewicz, Farnham and Chris Vargas all hit safely.
The A’s lone hitting star was Jim Quinn, who had two hits. Travis Butler was the losing pitcher.

Devaun Farnham hit a three-run home run to left-center field as the KD Landscaping Blue Jays beat the Gowanda Masonic Lodge Cubs 7-0.
Gavin Page also connected for a two-run double to jump-start the Blue Jays’ hitting attack. Other notable performances were Alex Garey, who had a clutch RBI single, and the three-hit performance by the Blue Jays pitchers, who had 11 total strikeouts and only two walks on the day.

Travis Butcher hurled a complete-game, three-hit, 14-strikeout shutout as the Stuart Tool & Die A’s beat the Gowanda Masonic Lodge Cubs 5-0.
Trent Gray and Austin Spicer each had two hits to pace the A’s offense while Dustin Uhlman and Brandon Shelters each doubled.
John Greene had a pair of doubles in support of losing pitcher Dave Swanson.

Bob Bankoski had two hits and two RBIs, including a walk-off single, as the Stuart Tool & Die A’s beat the Jamestown Mattress Expos 2-1.
Brandon Shelters also chipped in with two hits to pace the A’s, who totaled seven hits. Travis Butcher was the winning pitcher with a four-hitter that included 12 strikeouts — seven looking.
Will and Ryan Lucas each had two hits to back losing pitcher Doug Clark.
