Capozzi leads Panthers past T’wolves

CATTARAUGUS — Carter Capozzi completed 14 of 21 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns as Gowanda/Pine Valley beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley 36-16 in Class D football action Thursday.

Kyan Austin caught six passes for 128 yards and a touchdown while Trelin Warrior had five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. Damien Cedri also caught a 12-yard touchdown for the Panthers (4-1, 3-1).

Winter Mentley-Peters led Gowanda/Pine Valley’s ground attack with 10 rushes for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively for the Panthers, Isaiah Washington was in on 11 tackles, including a sack; Zane Rogers was in on 10 tackles, including one for a loss; Mentley-Peters was in on nine tackles, including one for a loss; and Lukas Barrett and Cam Howard each had an interception. Jayden Fish was in on seven tackles, forced a fumble and recovered two fumbles.

The Timberwolves fell to 1-4 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Gowanda/Pine Valley will host Franklinville/Ellicottville next Friday while Cattaraugus-Little Valley will travel to Silver Creek/Forestville that same night.

HERD TOPS SPRINGVILLE

SPRINGVILLE — Taylor Jones ran 19 times for 196 yards and two touchdowns as Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove beat Springville 31-6 in Class C South play.

Max Parmentier went 4 of 9 for 109 yards and a touchdown through the air with Brody Hawkins catching a 20-yard touchdown. Parmentier also ran for a 9-yard score.

The Griffins, who forfeited to Southwestern/Frewsburg a week ago, fell to 0-5 overall and in the league.

The Herd (2-3, 2-2) will host Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Bolivar-Richburg next Friday at Bill Race Field.
