Westfield knocks off Panama in D3 volleyball

WESTFIELD — Westfield held off Panama 23-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-18 in a stellar volleyball match between Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 rivals Thursday.

Leading the way for the Wolverines (9-0 4-0) were Molly Burgess with 10 digs and two aces; Maddie Burgess with 25 assists, two kills and two digs; Nahlia Douglas with 11 kills, seven digs and two aces; Arielle Corbett with one assist and seven aces; and Avery Smith with 13 kills, 10 digs and six aces.

For the Panthers (6-6, 2-2), Mckenna Kolstee had 10 kills and six blocks; Annie Becker seven kills and 12 digs; Lilly Hyde six kills, nine digs and two aces; and Kiera Loberg four kills, 21 assists and seven digs.

EAGLES PREVAIL

MAYVILLE — Noli Paddock and Kinslee Motter each had eight kills as Chautauqua Lake defeated Gowanda 25-19, 25-13, 25-19 in nonleague volleyball play Thursday.

Paddock had an ace and nine digs while Motter had five digs and three aces for the Eagles (8-1). Karagan Fairbank handed out 33 assists to go along with seven aces and 17 digs; Brina Jacobson had five kills and 10 digs; Alice Scarpine had six kills and six digs; and Jeanine Group had seven kills in the win.

Corrina John had 10 kills, six digs and four blocks; Bella Maines had 22 assists and three aces; and Addison Kota had 13 digs, two kills and an assist for the Panthers (9-2, 7-0 CCAA D2).

Chautauqua Lake won the jayvee matchup.

COUGARS SWEEP

SOUTH DAYTON — Melanie Miles had 21 assists and four digs while Alexis Pattyson had 13 kills and three digs as Cassadaga Valley swept Pine Valley 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 in CCAA Division 4 action.

Anna Burlingame had four kills and a block while Payton Meder had three aces and Kailee Lacki had two aces for the Cougars (7-4, 5-1).

Madi Robertson had 14 assists, 11 digs and an ace; Ava West had seven digs, five kills, an ace and an assist; and Cameron Rhinehart had eight digs, five kills and an ace for the Panthers (0-10, 0-5).

Cassadaga Valley also won the jayvee matchup.

SPILLER LEADS BROCTON

BROCTON — Zoe Spiller had five aces, 15 kills and eight digs to lead Brocton to a 25-17, 27-25, 25-18 Division 3 sweep of Silver Creek.

Evie Morrison had an assist, 12 kills and nine digs; Grace Lundin had three aces, two kills and 16 digs; and Sha’Na Adams had an ace, 33 assists, a kill, seven digs and a block for the Bulldogs (7-2, 3-2).

The Black Knights fell to 4-9 overall and 0-6 in the league.

Brocton also won the jayvee matchup.

PIRATES WIN

CLYMER — Lily Johnson led Clymer with nine kills to go along with four digs and a block as the Pirates swept Forestville 25-17, 25-23, 25-21 in Division 4 action.

Olivia Dellamora had five kills, five aces, six digs and two blocks; Addie Wiggers had six assists, three aces and three digs; and Maiya Dunnewold had eight assists and a block for Clymer (7-5, 6-0).

Elizabeth Case had four aces, two assists and five digs; Iris Muck had seven kills, an assist and three blocks; Ava Gruber had three aces, two kills and a block; and Emily Lillie had six digs for the Hornets (1-7, 1-4).

Clymer also won the jayvee matchup.
