FALCONER — The 25th Patrick J. Morales Memorial wrestling tournament kicked off Friday at Falconer High School and 23 area wrestlers clinched spots in the semifinals on Saturday.
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer will be represented by 10 athletes in the semifinals, while Gowanda/Pine Valley’s Nathan Warrior is the only local top seed.
The Eagles are represented in nearly every weight class, starting with No. 4 Chase Machemer at 103 pounds going against No. 1 Patrick Winseman of St. Francis. The other semifinal includes No. 2 Kamren Anderson of Randolph against No. 3 Jaxson Tocco of St. Francis.
Moving up to 110 pounds, No. 3 Chase Shirley takes on No. 2 Zach Little of Jamestown. The other semifinal includes another Cardinal with No. 4 Tanner Patterson against top-seeded Jon Winseman of St. Francis.
At 118 pounds, No. 3 Zander Lombardo represents the Eagles against No. 2 Ali Hamideh of St. Francis, while Frewsburg 4-seed Mason Raymond takes on No. 1 Tanner Catrabone of St. Francis.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer missed out on the semifinals at 126 pounds, but Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Dylan Newman made his way as the No. 2 seed against No. 6 Landon Walizer of Corry (Pennsylvania). The other semifinal includes another St. Francis top seed with Brayden Kellison-Neglia against No. 5 Wyatt Aaron of Central Clarion (Pennsylvania.).
The Eagles are back at 132 with No. 3 Thandon Bensink against No. 2 Steven Willis of Corry (Pennsylvania). The other semifinal includes No. 1 Cullen Edwards of St. Francis against No. 4 Luke Duffina of Medina.
Gavin Burchanowski is the No. 2 seed for the Eagles at 138 pounds against No. 3 Kolse Haseley of St. Francis, while Grayson Aaron of Central Clarion (Pa.) is the top seed against No. 4 Zak Massaro of St. Francis.
Warrior takes top billing at 144 pounds and will wrestle No. 4 Alfred Arnold of Hamburg, while Alex Bourgeois of the Eagles is the No. 3 seed against No. 2 Stephano Passucci of Iroquois.
Maple Grove’s Jaxson Kraft is the lone local semifinalist at 150 pounds, wrestling as the No. 3 seed he will take on No. 2 Max McCarthy of St. Francis. The other semifinal includes No. 1 Carson Braswell of Corry (Pa.) vs. No. 4 Alex Schiffhauer of Iroquois.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Noah Booth is the tournament’s bigget bracket buster reaching the semifinals as the No. 14 seed at 157 pounds and will take on No. 2 Cooper Hodak of Corry. The other semifinal includes No. 1 Griffin LaPlante of St. Francis against No. 4 Devin Merski of Corry.
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer is back in the mix at 165 pounds with No. 2 seed Toby Watson against No. 3 Collin Havers of Eisenhower. On the other side, Gowanda/Pine Valley No. 4 seed Jayden Fish takes on another St. Francis No. 1 in Rory White.
At 175 pounds, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley boasts the No. 3 seed in Riley Best against No. 2 Porter Vega of Spencerport (Pennsylvania), while Eagles No. 4 seed Tristen Gibbs takes on No. 1 Lamech Alberts of Corry.
The Golden Cougars have another No. 2 seed at 190 pounds with Patrick Braley against No. 3 Landon Nickerson of Corry. Then on the other side of the bracket Eisenhower has its second semifinalist with No. 4 Bryceton Wilkins against No. 1 Jake Henry of Central Clarion (Pa.).
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer rounds things out with its heavyweights as No. 5 Colton Hamilton takes on 215-pounds top-seed Zach Caldwell of St. Francis and No. 3 Walter Lukasiak battles No. 2 Owen Nickerson of Corry at 285 pounds.

The other 215-pound semifinal is No. 2 Dom Darch of St. Francis against No. 3 Takota Smith of Pioneer, while at 285 pounds No. 1 William Wortkoetter of St. Francis battles No. 4 Jeremiah Morgan of Spencerport.
On top of the 23 local semifinalists, many wrestlers from the area will be able to work their way to the podium in the wrestlebacks, starting this morning.
