Anderson, Swanson make key plays for Westfield
ANGOLA — Braylon Swanson had 15 points, six steals and five assists while Grant Beadle added 12 points and 16 rebounds to lead Westfield past Lake Shore 52-50 in nonleague boys basketball Saturday.
Westfield trailed 49-47 with 2:45 remaining before Swanson picked up a steal and a layup to tie the game with 1:39 left. The Wolverines’ Nolan Anderson then scored to give his team a 51-49 lead.
Lake Shore made it 51-50 with a free throw, but needed to foul four times to put Westfield into the bonus. With 12.4 seconds remaining, Swanson made a free throw. After a timeout, the Wolverines’ Noah Tuah got a deflection and Swanson picked up the steal to preserve the two-point win.
Brayden Paddock added 8 points while Logan Baum had 6 points and six rebounds for the Wolverines (6-3).
Kyle McNamara led the Eagles (3-7) with 17 points while Loyce Thompson-Jones and Colt Steinert chipped in 10 points apiece.
