Verbosky, Bowers, Tellez shine at Varsity Select No. 3

HOUGHTON — Ethan Verbosky, Samuel Bowers and Tyler Tellez left as winners following Section VI indoor track’s Varsity Select No. 3 meet Saturday at Houghton University’s Kerr-Pegula Field House.
Verbosky, a senior competing for Falconer/Randolph/Frewsburg/Maple Grove, won the boys 600 meters in 1:25.68 while his senior teammate Ty Kraft was third in 1:28.34.
Bowers, a senior competing for Dunkirk/Silver Creek/Forestville, won the boys 300-meter dash in 36.72 while Jamestown sophomore Beckett Lumia was second in 36.85.
Tellez, a Jamestown sophomore, won the boys pole vault at 12 feet, 6 inches, while Salamanca junior Easton Chudy was fifth at 10 feet.
Falconer/Randolph/Frewsburg/Maple Grove won the boys 1,600-meter relay in 3:40.22.
Dunkirk/Silver Creek/Forestville junior Emily Bain was second in the 600 meters with a time of 1:48.02.
Fredonia/Westfield freshman Jordan Morris was second in the girls weight throw at 35 feet, 11.5 inches.
Dunkirk/Silver Creek/Forestville senior Nathan Mays was third in the boys long jump at 20 feet, 8 inches and third in the shot put at 43 feet, 9 inches.
Dunkirk/Silver Creek/Forestville took third in the girls 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:25.50.
Falconer/Randolph/Frewsburg/Maple Grove junior Sopheia Nelson-Bennett took fourth in the girls 1,500-meter race walk with a time of 9:20.95.
Fredonia/Westfield senior Mariella Russo was fourth in the girls high jump at 5 feet.
Fredonia/Westfield junior Callie Draggett was fourth in the girls shot put at 28 feet, 11 inches.
Jamestown senior Jorge Rivera Jr. was fifth in the boys high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.
