Name of child who perished in crash released

State Police at Fredonia this morning have released the name of the child who tragically lost her life in an accident Monday afternoon in the town of Pomfret.

According to police, Emmaline A. Wilcox, 7, and the 35-year-old driver, both of Cassadaga, were both in a 2016 Kia which was traveling north on Rt. 60 when it was rear-ended by a 2009 Kia when they were attempting to make a left into a parking lot. The Kia was pushed into the southbound lane and the vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer.

The two Cassadaga residents were transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital. Emmaline was pronounced deceased while the operator was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Emma was a student at Sinclairville Elementary School. Grief counselors are on hand this morning.

The investigation is continuing.
