COVID-19 has forced the cancellation of the Salamanca vs. Falconer-Maple Grove-Cassadaga Valley football game, which was to be played Saturday.

In a joint statement is from the District Offices of the Falconer, Cassadaga Valley and Bemus Point Central Districts, the school websites noted a student athlete tested positive for COVID-19.

“This student is a member of the Varsity Football team and as a result all non-vaccinated players on our merged football team are quarantined and unable to play in (Saturday’s) football game previously scheduled to take place at Cassadaga Valley. The number of student-athletes from this merged team who are fully vaccinated is not enough to field a team and therefore tomorrow’s game is being postponed.”

The districts said they are are working with the county Health Department to determine the quarantine status of unvaccinated players and will then determine with Section 6 Athletics how to move forward with upcoming games.
