As February is Heart Healthy Month, Gowanda Elementary School students were invited to join the faculty and staff in celebrating American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day with a week of GO RED activities (Jan. 29 – Feb. 2). Students learned how to prevent heart disease, learned facts about the heart and ways to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. We discussed the importance of nutrition, exercise, proper rest and its many benefits. In addition to our fitness focus this month, we will do our cooperative games and dance units. February is a short yet productive month, and we encourage you to ask your children what they are learning in Physical Education class and encourage them to participate in physical activities outside of school. Friday, February 2nd was Wear Red Day where staff wore red and raised $250 in its annual fundraiser for the American Heart Association.
