Newly-ordained priest observes Mass in Dunkirk
Pictured to the right is the Reverend Peter Santandreu. As part of his preparation for ordination, he spent the year 2015-16 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish working with the Northern Chautauqua Catholic School and in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry, where his bi-lingual ability was an asset to the workers and clients. He was also active with Hispanic ministry.
A Hamburg, New York native, he is a graduate of Saints Peter and Paul Elementary School, St. Francis High School and Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora. He was ordained June 4, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral by Bishop Richard Malone. Reverend Santandreu has been assigned to St. Amelia’s Parish in Buffalo.
On Sunday, July 22, he returned to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish to celebrate a Mass with the S.E.A.S. community. He thanked all present for their prayers and support. As tradition, he gave his blessing to all present.
A brunch followed at the school hall. Reverend Dennis Riter and Reverend Walter Werbicki attended, as well as a large crowd of parishioners who offered congratulations to Reverend Santandreu.
