Donald E Franz

He was born in Pittsburg on October 31, 1921. He was the son of Edward C Franz and Ruth Nichols Franz.

Don was raised in Westfield, NY and graduated from Westfield High School. He worked at Nundy’s Garage and enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He spent 3 1/2 years in Guam as a crew chief on a B-29. He was proud that his pilot had his name under his, on the outside of the plane. His plane was the first to leave on missions and he never lost a plane. He received the Bronze Star.

Don married Lois Loveless on May 10, 1947 in the Methodist Church in Westfield. He and Lois have lived in Cassadaga for 61 years and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May. Don was employed by Fredonia Tractor, Chautauqua Truck and retired from Al Tech.

Don is survived by his wife Lois and daughters Linda (Rick) Roos of Cassadaga, Kristi Sellig of Eden, and son Steven Franz at the Chautauqua Nursing Center; grandchildren Tara (Frank) Gugino, Ed Franz, Ryan (Erika) Roos of Maumee OH, Erin (Rob) Booker of Lancaster NY, Breanna (Nick) Blasz of Eden, and Katelin (Jason) Haselden of Eden and 6 great grandchildren Taylor (Gene) Tenpas, Tyson and Trenten Gugino, Reese and Quinn Booker, and Maeson Blasz.

Arrangements made with Jordan Funeral Home. A private Celebration of Life will be held at the families convience.
