Dunkirk Elks plan St. Joseph’s Table on March 24
St. Joseph’s Day is a feast day recognized by Catholic and Lutheran faiths, primarily by those of Sicilian or Italian heritage. The story is told how Italy and Sicily were experiencing a devastating drought. The people prayed to God through the intercessions of St. Joseph for rain to save their crops. When their prayers were answered they gave thanks to St. Joseph through a feast of a meatless meal. A decorated three-tiered table is the center of the celebration.
