Lakewood fire blamed on electrical issue LAKEWOOD — An electrical issue is being blamed for a fire Wednesday morning. At about 5:50 a.m., Lakewood Fire Department, along with mutual aid, responded to a residential blaze on Freeman Street. Once extinguished, Lakewood Fire requested the Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Team. Following an investigation, it was determined that the fire originated within a first floor wall due to an electrical issue. No injuries have been reported. GOWANDA POLICE DEPARTMENT — GOWANDA — A disturbance on Buffalo Street in Gowanda led to a charge of criminal contempt for 33-year-old Kevin M. Stafford Jr., of Cold Spring. On Dec. 21, at 9:08 p.m., Gowanda Police responded to a disturbance at an address on Buffalo Street. Gowanda Police were informed that Stafford had been in a vehicle with an acquaintance when an argument occurred. FREDONIA MAN FACING RAPE CHARGE A Fredonia resident has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a minor. According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, on July 10, an investigation was conducted by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Investigators allege that Jonathan M. Tresler, 34, did engage in sexual intercourse with a juvenile victim. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — ELLERY — Around 8:53 p.m. Friday, deputies were dispatched to a reported vehicle complaint. It was reported the vehicle was operating at a high rate of speed and was all over the road. Deputies did locate the vehicle in a ditch. Through an investigation it was found the operator, Frank G. Hagberg, 50, of Jamestown, was operating while intoxicated. Hagberg was charged with DWI, moving from lane unsafely and uninspected motor vehicle.
