Club Associates holds monthly meeting SILVER CREEK — The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates held their regular monthly meeting in Silver Creek at the Overseas Veterans club. Club Board President Ed Fik welcomed the group to the club. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence for deceased club members. Roll call was taken, one board member was excused, and one club was absent. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by secretary Jim Pryll and accepted. Council meeting Tuesday canceled Tuesday’s Dunkirk Common Council meeting was canceled. In a notice sent to the OBSERVER, “technical issues” were blamed for the cancellation. The mayor told the OBSERVER that as she understood it, one of the members of council wanted to attend the meeting remotely using Zoom. However, City Hall was having technical difficulties with the computer network connection. Wdowiasz also stated it was the council’s decision to cancel the meeting. Overnight closure of I-86 Bridge over Chautauqua Lake The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 eastbound over Chautauqua Lake, between the towns of North Harmony and Ellery, Chautauqua County, will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, to 6 a.m. Thursday, April 9, to facilitate an ongoing rehabilitation project.
