County part of state crop disaster declaration

Chautauqua County is one of 15 counties being included in a disaster declaration due to an April frost. On Friday, state Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that New York state has requested a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretarial Disaster Designation for counties in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, Central New York, Southern Tier and the Western New York regions. The Dunkirk City School District has determined there’s no credible threat behind a social media post Thursday night that suggested harm to school safety. District Superintendent Brian Swatland posted about the incident this morning on DCSD’s social media page. He posted a letter addressed to intermediate school families. COLLINS --- The Erie County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Bureau is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred late Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff John Garcia announced.
