LAKEWOOD — The bad weather didn’t stop the Fredonia boys tennis team and neither did Maple Grove as the Hillbillies began Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action with a 3-2 victory at the Lakewood YMCA on Thursday. It is a bounce back win for the Hillbillies (1-1, 1-0) after dropping a nonleague contest against Olean on Tuesday when they did not have enough players for third doubles. Gowanda scores 15 straight to beat Franklinville 15-3

GOWANDA — After falling behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning, Gowanda scored the final 15 runs of the game to beat Franklinville 15-3 in five innings of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 baseball Thursday. Carter Capozzi, Kyan Austin and Drew Kota combined to walk 10 times and came around to score after eight of those walks for Gowanda (1-2, 1-0), which drew 18 walks in the game.
