STOCKTON – Effa Zenns, well-known in the Mayville and Westfield area, celebrates her 100th birthday. The Stockton Star Rebekah Lodge 395 is commemorating her 100th birthday with a card shower. The group is asking local residents to send cards to mark the occasion to: Effa Zenns, c/o Stockton Star Rebekah Lodge 395, P.O. Box 112, Stockton, N.Y. 14784.

Effa was married to Edward Zenns. They lived in Mayville and Westfield before her husband’s death. She then decided to move to St. Robert, Mo. to be near her daughter Margaret Walker. Her other daughter, Marcella Anderson, is deceased. Effa has four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She still has relatives in the Mayville area.

Effa joined the Rebekahs on March 3, 1940. She belonged to Chautauqua Lodge 529 until they consolidated with Stockton Star Rebekah Lodge 395.

Effa was very active in her lodge, serving in many positions, including Noble Grand. She was District Deputy President for Chautauqua County. She entertained the President of New York State Rebekah Assembly, Helen Piersons of Stockton. Effa worked on committees for the “Homeweek” in 1978. She was also general chairman for the State Convention in Jamestown in May 1979 which hosted over 1,300 delegates and did a super job.

She enjoyed her community, family and gardening. The goal is 100 cards.
