Valley Historical Society holds annual quilt show

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Valley Historical Society of Sinclairville held its annual quilt show for two days in the museum located at the corner of Main and Lester streets in the village. Quilts were brought to the museum by residents of the area for display, and each quilt had a description of the pattern and other information, such as the date and the family. Each year, different quilts are on display, which makes the show interesting and fresh.

Betty Jean Ridout, Lois Anderson and Mary Shearman were the coordinators for the event. Helping with the show were Diane Shaw and Walter Waite.

One of the quilts submitted with a lengthy written description by Susan Sipos, was a signature quilt from the former United Brethren Church, once located at 99 Maple Ave. The quilt was given to the museum by Larry and Sue Steward of Hamburg, whose parents had attended the church in the 1930s.
