Chamber plans another round of Bingo Thursday

The Fredonia Community Chamber of Commerce will continue its support of businesses affected by the shutdowns and restrictions brought on by the pandemic. The chamber has begun its “Parking lot Bingo” every Thursday night throughout the village. This Thursday, the chamber will be in the West Municipal lot directly supporting DeJohn’s , E.B.C, Taqo, and Arctic Bites.

“This a great way to get the public outside and support our local restaurants,” said Fredonia chamber President Michele Joy. “Our mission is to support member businesses but we know a vibrant social environment supports that both directly and indirectly.”

Immediate past President Dave Dengler added, “It has been refreshing, particularly to see so many parents and children. I am not sure who is benefitting more, the community, the businesses we support, or us.”

Bingo games start at 5:30 p.m. and usually run until 7 p.m. There is no cost nor participation to play and the chamber encourages participants to frequent one of the many eating establishments for either in restaurant dining or take out. You can come for a game or two or stay the whole time.

Prizes for both young and old are awarded to our winners, including some trivia winners as questions are asked throughout the evening. Some just open the window and play while families have opened their tailgates and/or brought lawn chairs. Please take advantage of the wonderful weather and the opportunity to support a few local businesses, as well as the opportunity to interact with others after some distancing and quarantine. All safe practices (masks, hand sanitizer, distancing as possible) are followed at this event.

This will be our third week of “Parking lot Bingo” as the Fredonia Chamber opened in the East Municipal lot and followed that up last Thursday at Rocco’s on Orchard Street. Both the participants and the restaurants gave the event positive reviews.

The chamber hopes to continue both the social and business support throughout the summer. Call the Fredonia Community Chamber of Commerce president for more information at 785-5934.
