Community Through Hockey continued its fundraising tradition for the community as it hosted its seventh annual community hockey game Oct. 1.

This year’s community hockey game featured an action-packed game between the Line of Courage Spartans and the Lakeview Shock Bulldogs. The line of Courage Spartans came away with a 4-2 victory over the Lakeview Shock Bulldogs; however, the game’s focus was about much more than hockey.

The proceeds from the 50-50 drawing and basket raffles at this year’s game were donated to Kids and Sibs summer camp, an inclusive summer camp for children with disabilities and their siblings, which is hosted at Camp Onyahsa in Dewittville.

Eric Herman, founder and president of Community Through Hockey, expressed his appreciation for those who supported this year’s game.

“Thank you to all community members that helped make this year’s game another success,” he said. “Community Through Hockey has now helped raise over $62,500 over the past seven years for local families and organizations.”

Herman said information is available online at Community Through Hockey’s Facebook page for those interested in learning more about the organization and how community members can donate to community causes through future events.

While this year’s community hockey game may be over, Herman said the organization will continue to find ways to support the community in the future.

“Community Through Hockey intends on continuing to host an annual hockey game and supporting those in need with the community’s assistance,” he said.
