Kokomo Time gears for new season

Kokomo Time is gearing for another year.

The Kokomo Time Band is a “Trop Rock” style band with a “feel good” party type sound that is gearing for the spring and summer season.

“Over the past few years, we have changed dramatically,” Jim Steffan band leader states. “We have added quite an array of fun-party-‘dance’ – type ‘ sing-a-long type tunes like ‘Sweet Caroline,’ ‘Viva Las Vegas, ‘ ‘Pink Cadillac,’ ‘Mony Mony’ so as to offer more energy and entertaining ‘dance-party’ sounds.”

This year will offer more of the same from the Kokomo Time Band with addiitions: Gimme Good Lovin’, a NEW Bo-Diddly- Jive’ medley, and an ambitious ‘Santana ‘ Medley just to name just a few..

“We’ll be lively, but, people friendly and fun,” says Steffan, band leader.

The Kokomo Time Band is scheduled to perform at “Summer Fest” July 11 in beautiful Lakewood. There are some interesting but not necessarily well known facts about members of the Kokomo Time Band.

John Guras, keyboards, provides a wide variety of instrumental sounds. Guras also contributes on vocals and plays bass lines on his left hand. John has played in notable Erie Pa bands including Black Diamond, the Classmates, Private Eyes, and Erie Jamm Starrs.

John Cross, saxophone, is a fine music educator who often performs at Chautauqua Institution, with such well known artists as the Drifters. John also directs his own Big Band and previously led his own unique ‘ Bobbaloo ‘ band.

Steffan, Dunkirk native and drummer, is leader and founder of the Kokomo Time Band refined his drumming abilities and musical understanding playing snare drum two years in the National Champion Rochester Crusaders. Other bands he has been part of include ‘ the Attitudes’ , the Other Brothers, Joey Allen Combo, and Three Point Star.

Bibby Allen, guitar, has toured with ‘ Magic Red ‘ who actually played at the ‘Biker’ Fests in Sturgis. He also played in Joey Allen Combo and previously played in local Dunkirk band “Razor Tongue.”

The Kokomo Time Band enjoys entertaining and performing at concerts , festivals, special events, anniversaries, birthdays, private parties. The Kokomo Time Band page on Facebook contains many pics, video and sound samples.The Kokomo Time Band can perform as a 3-4-or 5 piece ensemble..
