Church of the Living Spirit

This week’s speaker is Emmy Chetkin. This week’s medium is Rev. Gerta Lestock. Church services are held every Sunday in the Assembly Hall on Cleveland Avenue in Lily Dale.

Service time is 10:30 a.m. to noon and consists of a spiritual talk, a hands-on healing, a message demonstration, music, meditation and prayer.

Unitarian Universalist to resume services

On Sunday, Sept. 9, The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua will gather to celebrate the blessings of the summer past and look forward to the coming year with its annual Water Ceremony. Members, friends of the congregation and visitors are invited to bring a sample of water from their summer experience, whether it is far away or right in their own back yards. The water ceremony will help reunite the spiritual community after the summer break.

Students will receive a Unitarian Universalist token for backpacks and briefcases to celebrate the beginning of the school year.

This ingathering service for all ages will be facilitated by Consulting Minister George Buchanan and worship associate Cheryl Ritch. All are invited to attend this service.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua is a liberal religious community devoted to promoting individual spiritual development, working toward peace, liberty and justice in the immediate and global communities, and providing companionship on life’s sacred journey. Forestville UMC chicken barbecue planned for Sunday

The Forestville United Methodist Church will host its bi-annual chicken barbecue on Sunday Sept. 9 from noon until 2 p.m. or sold out. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children. Dine in or take out. The church is located at 3 Pearl St., Forestville. For more information, call the church at 965-2506.

St. John’s UCC chicken and biscuits dinner set

St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold a chicken and biscuits dinner on Saturday, Sept. 15, serving 4:30 to 6 p.m., at 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Parking and the entrance are off Eagle Street. Call 366-0710 for reservations, which are highly recommended. Pre-sale tickets are $9.50 each and can be picked up at the church office. Tickets at the door are $10. Take-outs are available.

Love In the Name of Christ banquet

Love In the Name of Christ will be hosting its annual banquet on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Moose Lodge, 201 Aldrich St. in Gowanda.

This event is one of two major fund-raisers to help provide transportation, emergency funding, budget counseling and prayer support for the Greater Gowanda community.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. for people to view auction items and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Love INC hopes it can depend on the public for donations, as the people of Gowanda depend on Love INC Theme baskets and gift certificates are welcome, but the list is limited only by contributors’ imaginations. Of course, monetary donations are also accepted. Consider attending this banquet and supporting the project in person!

Tickets are $25, pre-sale only, and available at the Love INC office Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call the office at 532-3541 or leave a message.
