Church of the Living Spirit

This week’s speaker is Barbara Sanson. Church services are held every Sunday in the Assembly Hall on Cleveland Avenue in Lily Dale.

Service time is 10:30 a.m. to noon and consists of a spiritual talk, a hands-on healing, a message demonstration, music, meditation and prayer.

Reverend George Buchanan to Speak to UU Congregation

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua welcomes Consulting Minister George Buchanan on Sunday May 12. Dunkirk First United Methodist Church rolled steak dinner set

The Dunkirk First United Methodist Church will hold a rolled steak dinner on Tuesday, May 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. or sold out at 601 Washington Ave., Dunkirk. The menu includes stuffed rolled steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, roll and pie for dessert. The cost is $10 per person. Options include eat-in, take-out or local delivery. Call 366-2230. St. John’s United Church of Christ chicken and biscuit

St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, May 18, with serving from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Call 366-0710 for reservations. Pre-sale tickets are $9.50, or tickets at the door, $10. Take-outs are available. Use the Eagle Street entrance and parking. Pre-sales are highly recommended.

St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church May events

Events coming up at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in May include Recognition Day on Sunday, May 19 and a Bible study kickoff on Monday, May 20 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

For Recognition Day, the congregation of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church will join with the parishioners of St. John’s. There will be one service at 10 a.m.

The Rev. Canon Abuid (Albert) Sam will be the guest preacher. Father Sam has recently been appointed a canon in the Episcopal Church. He is an original Dunkirk resident, having been a member of St. John’s for many years prior to attending seminary. He is presently retired, doing supply work, as requested.

On May 20, all women are invited to a kickoff evening for a Bible study on “living in Christ and putting your relationship with God first.” This study is based on the book of Ephesians – and, is a program by renowned bible teacher, Joyce Meyer. The program will consist of a short video and Joyce Meyer’s book on Ephesians.

The Bible study will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with light snacks and desserts.
