Dementia support group starts

A new caregiver support group has been formed in the north county for those caring for someone with dementia. Dine & Dish meets the second Thursday of each month. The county Office for the Aging is offering a support group for caregivers in the north county beginning Nov. 9 at 9:30 a.m. The group will meet at different restaurants each month. Participants are responsible for the cost of their own meals. Respite for your loved one may be provided with advance notice. Santa for Seniors project already underway

Once again, the Office for Aging Services is teaming up with Mayville Baptist Church and Hurlbut Church to bring the holiday cheer to isolated seniors across our county. The Santa for Seniors project delivers a gift bag filled with goodies and everyday essentials as well as a holiday meal to over 150 older adults. The Santa for Seniors project is 100% supported by community donations since government funding cannot be used for this purpose. Beware of scammers during open enrollment period

By Tiffany Erhard Open enrollment is Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, a period each year when individuals can change their Medicare and prescription drug selections. New York StateWide Senior Action Council offers free confidential services by HIICAP trained counselors.
