Flag pole dedicated in Leon for military

LEON — The Leon Town Picnic was the venue for the dedication of a flag pole and flag donated by Jeff and Pat Bromley and family of Leon. The flag and pole were dedicated in memory of Archie Beckman and to honor all Leon military, past and present.

Archie was a lifelong resident of Leon. He served with the National Guard for seven years. He was a dairy farmer, worked for R&L Smith, the Carnation Company and the Leon town highway department for many years. Surviving are his wife Barb and daughter, Darcy along with many others. A beautiful tribute to Archie, and Leon military persons, was given by Sally Marsh.

Raising the flag in remembrance of Archie and honoring Leon military, past and present, were Leon residents Hoyt Prince (World War II) and Dale Snyder (Vietnam War).
