Members of the Jamestown Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored longtime member Dorothy Valone Snitger for her service to the organization.

Tammy Lachner, regent; Sara Johnson, vice regent; and Dawn Durow, honorary regent of the Jamestown Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, recently visited Snitger to recognize her for 70 years of membership and service to the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Snitger became a member of the Jamestown Chapter in 1954. She was given a floral arrangement, a DAR 70 years of service pin and a certificate to commemorate her achievement.Snitger was a member when the Partridge-Sheldon home was bequeathed to the Jamestown Chapter by Dorothy Tew Johnson, the granddaughter of Porter Sheldon. She shared fond memories of working on cleaning the home and cleaning the windows with other members and making faces at each other through the glass.

She also shared that the morning room in the house is named in her honor. One of her favorite things was the DAR participation in the Memorial Day parade.

Snitger, a member of the Marvin House, is also the last living member of the original 400 members of the Marvin House who worked to save it.

Any woman who lived in the Marvin House was also a member of DAR.
