Evans man again charged after asking for ‘beer money’

EVANS — Eric Jimerson is at it again with a local doughnut and coffee shop, Evans Police report, as Jimerson was charged for trespassing on Wednesday, April 25.

The OBSERVER reported that on March 26 a man who was obstructing traffic asking for beer money. Jimerson was charged in that incident, which occurred at Erie Road at Beach Road. A local coffee and doughnut shop reported that incident and also reported the trespassing one.

Jimerson was charged and released to appear in Evans Town Court at a later date.

Police force man from vehicle during traffic stop

EVANS — Evans officers forcibly removed a man from a vehicle as he was caught going 28 miles per hour over the speed limit and did not abide officers’ requests on Monday, police report.

At 12:09 a.m., patrol clocked Christopher B. Carpentieri, 30, of Evans, traveling eastbound on Erie Road at Bennett Road, going 73 mph in a 45 mph zone. Evans Police state that the patrol’s emergency lights went on immediately in the Evans Center Fire Hall and while attempting to caught up, patrol observed the vehicle weaving in and out of its traffic lane, crossing a double yellow line. Patrol caught up at the New Era Cap Company facility.

Allegedly, Carpentieri refused to yield to patrol and slowed down to turn onto Backus Road without signaling. The driver then turned into their driveway.

At the residence, patrol made commands to the offender, but reportedly Carpentieri didn’t follow. Patrol opened the driver side front door and the commands allegedly were still not followed. Evans Police officers forcibly removed the offender from the vehicle and detained Carpentieri.

Once back at the department, Carpentieri was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which he reportedly didn’t, as patrol suspected he was intoxicated due to his strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath, police say. Carpentieri allegedly was repeating himself by saying, “Go (expletive) yourself,” during the situation.

Carpentieri was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to use designated lane, failure to keep right, speed violation, unsafe turn/failure to signal, failed to yield right of way to emergency vehicle, refusal to take breath test, Class E Felony DWI (with previous conviction designated offense within 10 years).

Driver allegedly had license revoked 16 times

EVANS — Markus R. Genovese, 46, of Southwood Drive, was charged with operate motor vehicle by unlicensed driver, speed violation, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Saturday.

At 9:09 p.m., patrol stopped a vehicle travelling north for going 44 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone on Kennedy Avenue near Maplewood Street. The driver reportedly admitted his license was suspended and the DMV computer check confirmed that it was suspended or revoked 16 times, from seven scoffs on four dates. Also, police report, that he was convicted for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Dec. 5, 2016, which was within 18 months of the date of this incident.

Genovese was charged and released on $300 bail. Genovese will answer the charges at a later date.

Person transported to hospital after locking police out

A person was transported from the Days Inn Dunkirk-Fredonia to a hospital Monday morning at around 8.

Fredonia Police Chief Brad Meyers informed the OBSERVER that the person was transported to the Lake Shore Hospital after he wouldn’t unlock the door to their room for around 15 minutes.

Because there were no charges filed, the individual’s name was not released.

¯ Kelly J. Ignasiakkunz, 51, of Evans, was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to take breath test, failure to keep right, driving too slow and illegal signal on Friday.

At 10:23 p.m., patrol responded to a report of a slow vehicle that wasn’t staying in its lane. When patrol found the vehicle, it was reportedly going 25 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone on Sturgeon Point Road. Patrol allegedly observed the vehicle travel left of the center line, when no obstructions were in the lane.

During the traffic stop, the operator, Ignasiakkunz, had glassy eyes, slurred speech, poor motor coordination and an odor of alcohol, police say. Patrol reported that Ignasiakkunz failed several field sobriety tests and allegedly admitted to having five beers and two shots.

Ignasiakkunz was charged and released to appear in Evans Town Court at a later date.

¯ Gabriel Lagarespadilla, 20, of Dunkirk, was charged with no/inadequate plate lamp and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Friday.

At 1:17 a.m., patrol stopped a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard. The operator, Lagarespadilla, was the operator. His license was reportedly suspended.

Lagarespadilla was charged and released to appear in Evans Town Court at a later date.

¯ Anthony P. Broughton, 20, of Evans, was charged with operate motor vehicle without inspection certificate, operate unregistered motor vehicle on highway, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operate motor vehicle without insurance on April 25.

Broughton, police reported, was operating a vehicle in a wooded area off of York Street.

Broughton will appear in Angola Village Court at a later date to answer the charges.

¯ Lydia D. Bigaj, 19, of Lackawanna, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and speed violation on April 24.

At 9:05 p.m., patrol observed a vehicle travel east on US Route 20 at a speed of 68 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. During the interview, patrol detected an odor of marijuana from the vehicle. A marijuana blunt was found in the center console, police report.

Bigaj was charged and released to appear in Evans Town Court at a later date.

¯ Jasmine M. Rodriguez, 23, of West Seneca, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, moved from lane unsafely and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on April 23.

At 1:24 a.m., patrol pulled over a vehicle for moving from lane unsafely on Erie Road. The operator, Rodriguez, was allegedly in possession of Xanax, 2 milligram, and marijuana.

Rodriguez was charged and released to appear in Evans Town Court at a later date.

¯ COLLINS — Dakota Thompson, 25, of Perrysburg, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on March 28.

At 1:40 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on Route 438 for an inadequate stop lamp. The operator was Thompson. Troopers allegedly detected an odor of marijuana and a subsequent search reportedly found 16.5 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe containing burnt marijuana residue.

Thompson was charged and will appear in Collins Town Court at a later date.

¯ PERRYSBURG — Daniel Dickey, 22, of Perrysburg, was charged with driving while intoxicated, drugs on April 2.

At 2:15 p.m., troopers responded to a report of property damage on Jolls Road. The investigation found Dickey allegedly impaired and he was taken into custody for further evaluations.

Dickey was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert, where it was determined he was impaired by drugs. Dickey was issued a ticket to Perrysburg Town Court at a later date.

¯ COLLINS — Adam John, 20, of Collins, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on April 6.

At 11:15 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on Bush Road for a speed in zone violation. The operator was John. During the interview, an odor of marijuana was allegedly detected and a subsequent search found 2 grams of marijuana.

John was charged and will answer the charge in Collins Town Court.

¯ PERRYSBURG — Eilis Meehan, 20, of Perrysburg, was charged with third-degree identity theft and petit larceny on April 8 at 3:35 p.m.

On April 6, troopers were informed of unauthorized bank transactions. The money was allegedly being transferred from the victim’s account to Facebook. An investigation found Meehan reportedly transferred said funds from Facebook to her account.

Meehan was charged and will appear in Perrysburg Town Court at a later date.

¯ SOUTH DAYTON — Stacy Ortel, 50, of South Dayton, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated on April 18.

At 10:20 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on Park Street for failing to signal, failing to keep right and inadequate head lamps. While speaking to the operator, Ortel, troopers determined that she was intoxicated through several field sobriety tests.

Ortel allegedly had .21 blood alcohol content.

Ortel was charged and will answer the charge in South Dayton Village Court.

¯ COLLINS — Eddie Jackson, 23, of Rochester, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on April 22.

At 2:22 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on Route 438 for an inadequate muffler. The operator was Jackson. Troopers allegedly detected an odor of marijuana and a subsequent search found 1.3 grams of marijuana.

Jackson was charged and will answer the charge in Collins Town Court.
