Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

¯ ELLERY — On May 9, Sally M Lawson, 63 was charged with second-degree falsely reporting an incident.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies served a felony warrant on Lawson. She was brought to Chautauqua County Jail to be arraigned.

¯ MAYVILLE — On May 13, Depree S. Gamble, 28, was charged with alleged second-degree strangulation, third-degree attempted assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

At approximately 5:02 a.m., deputies were called to East Chautauqua Street for a physical altercation. Upon arrival and further investigation, the subject was arrested for allegedly choking another person and breaking a necklace in the process.

¯ PORTLAND — On May 14, Michael J. Dotson, 47, was charged with alleged criminal mischief, criminal contempt, and two counts of aggravated harassment.

Sheriff’s deputies conducted a warrant check on Route 20. Deputies located Dotson within a residence. He had outstanding warrants and was turned over to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment.

¯ GERRY — On May 13, troopers out of SP Jamestown charged Paul Briggs, 35, of Celoron, with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Briggs was pulled over on County Route 380 for a traffic violation and during the traffic stop, Briggs was found to be in possession of two bags containing methamphetamine, two smoking devices containing methamphetamine residue and a container with methamphetamine residue. Briggs was placed under arrest, transported to SP Jamestown and processed. Briggs was issued an appearance ticket and a traffic ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Gerry Court on a later date.

¯ GERRY — On May 12, troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Jonathan Carlson, 30, of Jamestown, with petit larceny.

The troopers responded to the Country Fair in Gerry for a report of a larceny complaint. Surveillance footage revealed that Carlson walked out of the store without paying for two lighters. Carlson was located, placed under arrest and issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in the town of Gerry Court on a later date.

¯ On May 5, Elijah J. Wilde, 22 was arrested for multiple alleged charges, including second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, seat belt violation, failure to keep right on a two lane road, illegal signal less than 100 feet and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Patrol responded to a reckless operation of a vehicle coming out of the town of Brant. The vehicle was stated to have hit a fire hydrant in North Collins. Patrol located the witness on Versailles Plank Road approaching the intersection of the Eden Evans Center Road, where patrol witnessed the vehicle fail to signal less than 100 feet from the stop sign and fail to come to a complete stop at the stop sign. The vehicle made a wide right hand turn, crossing the double yellow line and then crossed back over the lane and onto the shoulder, just prior to the ditch.

Wilde was then questioned and asked to perform field sobriety tests. He stated that he smoked marijuana earlier in the day. After investigation, officers found a bag of marijuana, two pipes, a bag of white rock substance, and 12 Xanax pills. Wilde was charged and released with an appearance ticket.

¯ On May 5, Dwayne Washington, 38, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property greater than $3,000, operating a vehicle by an unlicensed driver, failure to keep right on a two-lane road and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on the highway.

A patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. After investigation, it was found the vehicle had been reported stolen and the driver, Washington, was unlicensed and drinking in the vehicle. Washington was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in court at a later date.

¯ On May 8, Brian J. Sciarrino, 31, was arrested for allegedly operating a motor vehicle without a license and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

A traffic stop was made due to patrol having prior knowledge that the offender has a suspended driving privilege. Sciarrino’s driving privilege was suspended a total of four times. He was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in court at a later date.
