JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT — Pedro J Cruz, 43, was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment. At approximately 10:33 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a south side address for a reported domestic dispute. JAMESTOWN — Jamestown police officers are investigating a shooting Thursday that caused a lockdown at two city schools. According to a police report, at 1:24 p.m. officers responded to Crescent and Buffalo streets for a report of shots fired and found that a person forced their way into an occupied residence armed with a shotgun. During the incident the person fled the home, firing the shotgun and hitting the side of the home before fleeing the scene. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — Gwyn C. Steger, 46, of Fredonia, was charged Thursday with petit larceny. According to officials, at about 7 p.m., deputies responded to a business on Vineyard Drive in the town of Dunkirk for a shoplifting complaint. Through an investigation, it is alleged that Steger stole merchandise and consumable goods from the business. Steger will be in Dunkirk Town Court later. At approximately 8:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Route 5 and McKinley Road in the town of Westfield for a report of a male subject walking along the road yelling. Officers made contact with the individual, identified as Evan W. Bartlett, 55, who stated he had run out of gas and parked his vehicle on the north shoulder of Route 5 while seeking assistance. A Dunkirk man driving on a revoked non-driver's identification card led police on two chases Tuesday in the town of Hanover and the city of Dunkirk. At 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, David P. Topliffe, 45, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer and several traffic violations after leading deputies on a short pursuit from Hanover into the city of Dunkirk after deputies tried to pull his vehicle over for an alleged inspection violation. ...

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - Scott Humble, 64, of the town of North Harmony was charged March 9 with two counts of second-degree criminal contempt. According to officials, at about 3 p.m., deputies received notification that Humble was in possession of dogs on his property.
