JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT - Amanda D. Ferguson, 42, of Jamestown was charged Feb. 2 with petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief. According to police, at about 11:24 p.m., officers responded to a shoplifting in progress at CVS, located at 19 S. Main St. It was determined that Ferguson allegedly had stolen merchandise belonging to the store. Officers located Ferguson a short distance from the store and were able to retrieve the items. Bus involved in minor mishap Emergency crews responded to an accident involving a vehicle and school bus. According to scanner reports, the incident happened in the town of Pomfret on Route 20 east of the roundabout with seven students aboard. Upon arrival all, including the students, were reported to be OK at the time. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. Fredonia Fire Department was one of the responders. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - Zane Tucker, 30, of Clymer, was charged Jan. 30 with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and having an unregistered motor vehicle. According to officials, at about 11:16 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Brownell Road in the town of French Creek. The operator was identified as Tucker, and upon further investigation it was found that Tucker allegedly was driving while intoxicated. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — ELLERY — An accidental fire led to minor injuries over the weekend. Around 7:21 a.m. Saturday, the Fluvanna Fire Department and several mutual aid agencies responded to a residential structure fire on Willow Avenue. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. 14-year-old charged in burglary of Dunkirk business

A young teenager was arrested by Dunkirk police following a burglary in the city. On Thursday around 12:40 a.m.officers responded to a local business for the report of a burglary in progress. They arrived on scene and observed the glass to the front door had been smashed along with foot prints in the snow leading away from the business. Officers began tracking the foot prints and were able to catch up to the subject. After a brief foot pursuit, the subject was taken into custody. Jamestown man sentenced on drug, weapons charges

A Jamestown man has been sentenced on various drug and weapons charges. According to District Attorney Jason Schmidt, 24-year-old Nylix Thomas, age 24 was sentenced Thursday before Judge David W. Foley. Thomas pleaded guilty on Nov. 25, 2025 to two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class “B” felonies; two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both class “C” violent felonies; and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both class “D” felonies.
