Police seek assistance on peddler Fredonia police are seeking information about a man going to residences inquiring about cable service. The department reported Wednesday that complaints have been received recently describing a white male approaching residences in the village. The white male does not display any professional credentials and is observed operating a gray sedan bearing an unknown State of New Jersey license plate. A Rochester man is accused of having sexual relations with two underage females from southern Erie County and recording the act on his cell phone. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross has announced that Ahmed Yaqoob, 24, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with production and possession of child pornography, which carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, and a maximum of 30 years. Battery pack blamed in fire

PORTLAND – A battery pack is being blamed for a fire Wednesday afternoon. Around 2:30 p.m. multiple fire departments responded to 6996 Route 5 in the town of Portland for a reported structure fire. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team ruled the fire as accidental in nature caused by an overheated lithium ion battery pack. The fire caused minimal damage and was contained to the area of origin. No injuries were reported.
