The Northern Chautauqua Young Professionals will host their second networking event of the year at Shorewood Country Club on Sept. 14. The event will feature a golf demonstration by PGA-certified golf professional Brad Smith. Participants will learn golf basics, etiquette, and putting techniques. The demonstration will be followed by time for networking in the clubhouse. The evening will include appetizers, drink specials, and raffles. Professionals of all ages are encouraged to attend. Workshop to be held in Kennedy for berry growers

On Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m., The Berry Patch in Stephentown and Abers Acres in Kennedy will host concurrent berry production workshops in collaboration with Cornell University. Designed for the commercial berry grower, the free workshops will give farmers up-to-date tools and techniques for monitoring for the invasive pest spotted wing drosophila. They will also cover the use of exclusion netting to combat the pest, as well as understanding cultural and chemical management strategies. Fredonia Business Club starting golf tournament

The Fredonia Business Club Inc. will be hosting its inaugural golf tournament Saturday, Oct. 2 at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk. The tournament will be played in a scramble format with four-person teams, however, no teams are necessary and individual golfers are welcomed! Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. leading up to a shotgun start at noon with lunch being served at the turn.
