Fredonia Board of Trustees sets special meeting for Monday

The Fredonia Board of Trustees has called a special meeting for Monday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. in the second floor meeting room at Village Hall, 9-11 Church St.

American Legion Post 62 organizational meeting today

The Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62 organizational meeting will be held on today at 7 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Ave. All Legion members of Post 62, Auxiliary Unit 62 and S.A.L. Squadron 62 are encouraged to attend to plan activities for the upcoming 2019-20 year.

Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser for Camp Gross happening Saturday

Camp Gross will once again this year host the annual Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Vineyard Drive Applebee’s location. Tickets for the event are $7. There will also be a basket raffle at the breakfast which will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. All are asked to come and support Camp Gross, a camp for youth.

Leon town picnic Saturday at noon

On Saturday, Aug. 17, the Leon town picnic will be held at the Leon Fire Hall, New Albion Road, Leon at noon.

Leon has a strong military history. This year, members want to celebrate all of the community veterans with the dedication of the newly painted ‘Honor Roll’ signs. Bring a dish to pass, everything else is provided. Come enjoy catching up with friends.

Prevention Works offers free Active Parenting of Teens program

Prevention Works will offer a series of Active Parenting of Teens sessions on Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Mental Health Association (MHA), 31 Water St., Door 14, Suite 7, Gateway Center, Jamestown.

This program addresses this complicated day and age. With this parenting curriculum, parents will receive the confidence and courage to meet the challenges (and savor the joys) of their children’s teen years. Parents will learn and laugh in a supportive environment. There is no cost to participants.
