Dunkirk beaches open today

Dunkirk’s beaches at Point Gratiot and Wright Park are open for the season starting today. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday. All guidelines as required by the state of New York must be followed. Beachgoers will be required to practice social distancing and limited social gatherings. Also, the use of acceptable face coverings needs to be followed.

Weather forces Dunkirk to change graduation date

Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, the 162nd Dunkirk High School graduation ceremony originally scheduled for 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, at Karl Hoeppner Field has been re-scheduled to Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Karl Hoeppner Field.

Students and guests should follow the same procedures that were in place for Saturday’s ceremony — please reference your Gmail and the District website for additional information.

Fredonia seeks candidates for Board of Education

The Fredonia Central School Board of Education is accepting letters of interest for a vacant Board of Education position. Letters of interest are due to Christine Slagle, district clerk, no later than 4 p.m. Monday, July 6, by sending letters and resumes to Christine Slagle, Fredonia Central School district clerk, 425 E. Main St., Fredonia, NY 14063. Candidates will be interviewed later and the appointed member will serve until the May 18, 2021, school board election, when the candidate can run for a permanent seat.

Pine Valley School Board announces meetings

The Pine Valley Central School Board of Education will meet Wednesday, as well as on July 16 and Aug. 13. at 7 p.m. in the Board of Education Meeting Room (Room #11) in the Pine Valley Elementary School Building. Meetings are open to the public.
