The Roblin Steel Coffee Club will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Demetri’s in Dunkirk.

City plans water flushing event

During the hours of midnight until approximately 6 a.m. starting on Monday, the city of Dunkirk will begin conducting our annual flushing of water mains and fire hydrants throughout the city. This process will take approximately three weeks and during this time residents may, for brief periods, experience slightly cloudy water and reduced water pressure. The Water Department recommends that residents please let water run until clear before laundering and cooking.

Please contact the city of Dunkirk Water Maintenance Department at 366-3255 or Department of Public Works at 366-9832 with any questions or concerns.

County Legion Auxiliary meeting is Oct. 14

Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the John W. Rogers Post 327 in Westfield. Members are reminded to have a unit representative attend to report 2022 Girls State quotas; donated coffee items will be collected for the UCAN drive for Homeless Veterans; and coupons are appreciated for the overseas troops. Eighth District Auxiliary President Ann Baglio will be a distinguished guest. Members are encouraged to attend and welcome our guest at her county visit.

The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates

will hold its next regular monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 in the Fredonia Beaver Club, Prospect Street, in Fredonia. All COVID restrictions will be implemented.

Rec reservations start on Tuesday

The City of Dunkirk Recreation Department will be accepting reservations for usage of the Recreation Center Building at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds in Dunkirk beginning Tuesday. Please contact the office at 366-9885 for further information.

Town of Hanover water and sewer customers, and Forestville water customers are notified that Oct. 15 is the last day for payment of any outstanding sewer and water bills. Any unpaid accounts will be forwarded to Chautauqua County to be added to their 2022 Town/County taxes. Payment can be made by mail, drop box or in person at the Hanover Town Hall, 68 Hanover Street, Silver Creek during normal business hours.

Rabies clinic planned in Portland

BROCTON — A rabies vaccination clinic will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the town of Portland highway barn, 1934 Route 20, Brocton. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. The town of Portland will sponsor the event and Dr. Greg Hoyt will be the attending veterinarian.
