Farm Market changes schedule

This Saturday, Chautauqua County’s only year-round farmers’ market will remain indoors due to the weather forecast at the Masonic Lodge on East Main Street. The outdoor season will begin May 27 when the Fredonia Farmers’ Market will move to the historic Barker Commons downtown in Fredonia, with summer hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday until the end of October.

Sons of Legion meeting Tuesday

The Sons of American Legion Squad 59 will be holding its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. Committee nominations for fiscal will be voted on; Positions are: Commander, Rodney Dziduch; first vice commander Douglas McPherson; second vice commander David “Duper” Winchell Jr.; third vice commander Steve Smith; adjutant, Dave Schanzlin; finance manager, Larry Fiorella; historian, Tom Muldowney; chaplain, David Dengler; sergeant at arms, Rick Holly; legion advisers, Russ Starks and Jim Wright.

Anyone interested in pursuing a nomination, please attend this meeting. Plans will be finalized for spring steak and shrimp bingo on June 10 at 6 p.m. at Post 59 with Dziduch calling the numbers with his usual charm and entertainment. Open to members and guests.

Recipients for the Boys and Girls State sponsorships will be awarded at the meeting. A donation to the national cemetery in Pembroke for Memorial Day flowers has been approved and will be sent on behalf of Squad 59.

Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of month at the post at 7 p.m. and open to those interested.

Sewer district meeting May 30

There will be a special meeting of the board of directors for the Portland, Pomfret, Dunkirk Sewer District on Tuesday, May 30 at 3 p.m. The meeting will be at the Dunkirk Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road, and is open to the public.

Library planning bake sale

SILVER CREEK — The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library have announced their annual bake sale will be held on Friday, June 2. There will be two locations. Stop at the library on Main Street or at Add Lumber True Value in Irving. The sale will be from 9:30 a.m. until sold out. All proceeds from the sale are used to enhance library materials. ‘Fireside’ series discusses

offenders

WESTFIELD — The next program in Patterson Library’s “Faculty at the Fireside” series will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday and will focus on research about sex offenders. Presenter Dr. Darrin Rogers has published multiple research papers on the topic of sex offenders as well as society’s perceptions of them with a focus on cultural factors. Additionally, he has experience working as a therapist in a treatment program for juvenile sex offenders. The event will end with a Q&A, so bring any questions you’d like feedback on!
