VFW Auxiliary sets upcoming plans SHERIDAN — The VFW Auxiliary of Sheridan Post 6390 met on Monday. During its meeting several items were discussed. Members' dues are payable starting now and no later than Dec. 31. The next District 6 meeting will be on Sept. 12 starting at 11 a.m. There will be a veterans' dinner at the post sometime in October and the auxiliary will offer assistance with that. Sept. 19 is the date of a gun raffle. For the future, the auxiliary discussed having a bingo at the post in February when people need a little, fun diversion. Our next meeting will be Aug. ...

Revitalize Dunkirk trail event The Revitalize Dunkirk Trail committee is seeking volunteers to put wood chips on the Point Gratiot trail on July 22 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves and a shovel. Library plans reading remembrance SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library plans a poetry reading in memory of poet and teacher John Brantingham, who taught and published widely in the world, but locally at Chautauqua and JCC and also gave classes at our library. This will be a time to share our own original poetry and/or readings from Brantingham’s work. Sons of Revolution meeting Saturday STOCKTON — The Chautauqua County chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be meeting this Saturday, July 11 at the Stockton Hotel at 12:30 p.m. The meal will be followed by a meeting outlining our plans for the rest of the season.
