Veterans 4 Christ meet Saturday BROCTON — This coming Saturday, at 10 a.m., Veterans 4 Christ will be having their free monthly brunch for veterans, active-duty military and guest. The brunch is at Tri-Church Parish, located at 41 E. Main St., Brocton. There will be an ample quantity of Paula's Donuts, along with carafes of coffee to start the morning. Brunch will be a homemade meal. This month there will not be a guest speaker and this will allow time for conversation with former acquaintances and time to make new friends. Please plan on coming. VFW Auxiliary meets in Sheridan SHERIDAN — The Sheridan VFW Auxiliary met Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the VFW Post 6390. Members present discussed various items during the meeting such as our monthly donations to veteran related organizations and updating our standing rules. District 6 news was shared with members. The Auxiliary is planning a bake sale at the post on Friday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. This will coincide with the weekly fish dinner and the Lakeshore Flea Market. City assessor speaking Jan. 22 Revitalize Dunkirk will be meeting Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Erica Munson, city assessor, will be the guest speaker. She will be talking about the various functions of the assessor's office and will not be taking questions about the current assessments of the city. First Day Hike rescheduled for Jan. 11 FORESTVILLE — The canceled First Day Hike at the Forestville Hiking Trail has been rescheduled to Saturday, Jan. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. The trail is located at 11041 Walnut Road. Come enjoy the one-mile long hiking trail that ends where you begin and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and s’mores before or after your hike. Members from the community group, Imagine Forestville, will be there to greet you, serve the hot cocoa and help you make s’mores. There will be two fire pits to warm up at. Club Associates hold annual meeting The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates will hold its annual installation banquet on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Kosciuszko Polish Home, 252 Nevins St. in Dunkirk. Cocktails will be served at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6. Guest speaker will be Jim Fisher, a member of the board of directors of the Dunkirk Lighthouse. Grape Belt Seniors list coming events Grape Belt Seniors meet on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays for Aerobics and weights class at the Masonic Lodge. Class is from 9 to 10 a.m. and the cost is $1 for each class. You have to be a member to attend. Dues are now required for 2025 and can be paid at the Lodge from 8:45 to 9 a.m. on days of class.
