Investigation into decisions at nursing homes sought by Goodell

Assemblyman Andrew Goodell, R-Jamestown, wants the chair of the Assembly’s Health Committee to look into why the state chose to transfer patients recovering from COVID-19 into nursing homes. Goodell sent a letter to Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, D-New York City, on Thursday asking Gottfried to look into the reasons for the order. Reed: Cuomo lying about covering up nursing home COVID deaths

Calling it a cover up, U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, said Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo is lying about withholding data on virus-related nursing home deaths in the state. Chautauqua County reported 23 new COVID cases and one new virus-related death on Friday. To date there have been 7,391 confirmed cases, 7,076 recoveries and 136 deaths associated with the coronavirus. Of the new cases identified Friday, 11 came from the Jamestown zip code, four from Dunkirk and three each from Fredonia and Bemus Point. Cattaraugus County reports two new COVID deaths

The Cattaraugus County Department of Health reported two new COVID-19-related deaths, involving a 68-year-old woman and 62-year-old man. Both reportedly developed respiratory failure. "We extend our deepest condolences to their families and the entire Cattaraugus County community," the county Health Department said in a statement. COVID hospitalizations continue countywide decline

The number of people with COVID-19 in Chautauqua County hospitals has dipped into the single digits. The county Health Department reported nine hospitalizations on Thursday, a drop of four from information released a day earlier. The county also announced 34 new confirmed cases, with 19 coming from Jamestown, three in Dunkirk, one in Fredonia, and two each in Silver Creek and Sinclairville.
