Suspicious vehicle report leads to drug possession charges for pair

BROCTON — A suspicious vehicle report led to the discovery of methamphetamine, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies were alerted around 1 a.m. Monday to the vehicle on Fay Street in the village of Brocton. The occupants were identified as 38-year-old Arhur C. Link and 26-year-old Raymond M. Provorse, both of Olean.

Provorse was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant out of Erie County and was taken into custody. He was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine, the Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release.

While searching the vehicle, deputies located more methamphetamine leading to the arrest Link.

Both men were issued tickets to appear in Portland Town Court on charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Provorse was turned over to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office; Link was released.
