Forestville narrowly passes budget, shakes up school board

Forestville Central School.

Forestville Central School district residents narrowly approved its 2022-23 budget by an eight-vote margin. The final tally was 270-262 in favor.

In addition, there’s been a shake-up on the school board. Jamie Hebner, with 291 votes; Derek Case, with 288 votes; and Lindsey Ellis with 267 votes won election defeating Christy Muck, Sylvester Cleary and Carol Woodard.

Ellis has been one of the most outspoken individuals in Forestville in the last year. During the fall, she openly advocated for the resignation of Forestville Central School Superintendent Renee Garrett.

A group of parents and residents of the district, headed by Ellis, were working on a petition calling for Garrett’s resignation. During that time, the petition had a total of 428 signatures.

Results also showed the bus purchase passed as well as the capital project.
