County man charged in poisoning of 10 dogs
NORTH HARMONY — A town resident is facing a number of cruelty to animals charges after 10 dogs were poisoned.
At 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies and the Chautauqua County Humane Society responded to an address on Route 394 for a report of animal abuse and neglect filed through the Humane Society. Once deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke with Scott Humble, 64, who was the owner of the dogs on the property.
A search warrant was obtained for the property, and an investigation found that Humble poisoned 10 Samoyed dogs, eight of which had passed away and remained in their cages. The two remaining dogs were seized. He also had six other dogs and one cat living inside his residence in deplorable conditions, which were also seized. There were two more dogs seized for having no shelter.
At this time, all dogs and cats were taken to the Chautauqua County Humane Society for evaluation and veterinary care.
He was released without bail and will be in Town of North Harmony Court at a later date.
