Two found with meth facing federal charges

JAMESTOWN — Two city residents are facing federal charges after more than 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine and cash were found inside a home early Wednesday.

Police took 35-year-old Richard E. Kinsey Jr. and 23-year-old Brandi Whitford into custody on charges of criminal possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

A search warrant was executed around 5:48 a.m. at the pair’s 320 Newland Ave. residence. Officers with the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force were assisted by DEA agents, the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, the New York State Police and Ellicott police.

SWAT members gained entry, and inside police located Kinsey and Whitford along with the methamphetamine and about $2,000 in cash.

Both city residents are being held on federal warrants issued by the U.S. District Court for the Western District. The charges stem from a prior raid at the same address on Sept. 6 of this year, Jamestown police said in a news release.

During the Sept. 6 search, Jamestown police reported finding 9 ounces of methamphetamine, fentanyl, Hydrocodone pills, psilocybin mushrooms, three loaded shotguns — one of which was stolen — several rounds of ammunition, over $11,000 in cash and “lots of drug paraphernalia.”

“While executing the search warrant three subjects attempted to jump from the second story porch,” Jamestown police said at the time. “One of the subjects, while attempting to jump off the second story porch, threw a loaded .25 caliber handgun into the street, which landed next to a Task Force officer.”

Additional federal charges against Kinsey and Whitford are expected in Wednesday’s search. Both are waiting to be arraigned.
